Dubai’s live music scene runs deep: jazz and soul bands, Arabic ensembles, Bollywood bands, string quartets, acoustic duos and full show bands with horn sections. Many perform in residencies around the city, which means you can often see them live before you book.
Think in sets. A typical evening might open with an acoustic duo, move to an ensemble for dinner and finish with a party band, with a DJ covering the breaks. Bands play in sets of forty-five minutes to an hour with rests between, so plan the programme around them.
Technical needs grow with the size of the band. Stage space, power, monitors and a sound engineer are part of the booking for larger acts; ask whether the band brings its own engineer and what the venue must provide.
